Cumulative limitations
Read the official ruleThis regulation sets maximum limits on how much a flightcrew member can fly and work over rolling time periods. It applies to all flying done for any Part 121, 135, or 91K operator during these periods.
Flight time limits:
- No more than 100 hours in any 672 consecutive hours (28 days)
- No more than 1,000 hours in any 365 consecutive days
Flight duty period limits:
- No more than 60 hours in any 168 consecutive hours (7 days)
- No more than 190 hours in any 672 consecutive hours (28 days)
Both the certificate holder and the flightcrew member share responsibility—the company cannot schedule assignments that would exceed these limits, and pilots cannot accept them. These are "lookback" limits calculated on a rolling basis, not fixed calendar periods. They prevent cumulative fatigue by capping total flying and duty time over specific windows.
