Manual contents
Read the official ruleThis regulation specifies what must be included in a Part 135 operator's manual. The manual must show its last revision date on every page (paper) or in an immediately visible location (electronic).
Required contents include: management personnel and their responsibilities; weight and balance procedures; operations specifications; accident notification and maintenance reporting procedures; pilot briefing requirements; emergency procedures; and flight locating when applicable.
The manual must detail how pilots handle mechanical issues, obtain maintenance away from base, and continue flight with inoperative equipment. It must include refueling procedures with fire protection measures.
Significantly, the manual must contain hazardous materials procedures—how to identify, accept or reject, handle, and report hazmat packages, plus the company's hazmat authorization status.
Additional requirements cover passenger evacuation assistance procedures and, if applicable, destination airport analysis procedures, en route pilot qualification, and the aircraft inspection program. The operator may also include other operational procedures and policies as needed.
