Flight time limitations and rest requirements: Scheduled operations
Read the official ruleThis regulation sets flight time limits and rest requirements for Part 135 scheduled operations. Flight crewmembers cannot exceed 1,200 hours yearly, 120 hours monthly, 34 hours in any 7 consecutive days, or 8 hours in 24 consecutive hours (single pilot or two-pilot crews).
Before any flight segment, crewmembers must receive scheduled rest during the preceding 24 hours: 9 hours for flights under 8 hours, 10 hours for flights of 8-9 hours, or 11 hours for flights over 9 hours. These rest periods can be reduced to 8 or 9 hours minimum if compensatory rest of 10-12 hours begins within 24 hours of the reduced rest period starting.
Additionally, every crewmember must receive at least 24 consecutive hours free from all duty during any 7-day period. These rules apply to both the certificate holder's scheduling and the crewmember's acceptance of assignments, ensuring adequate rest for safe operations.
