US-FAA14 CFR 135.301

Crewmember: Tests and checks, grace provisions, training to accepted standards

Read the official rule

This regulation provides two important provisions for Part 135 crewmembers:

Grace Period: If you complete a required test or flight check in the month before or the month after it's due, you're considered to have completed it on time. This gives you effectively a three-month window (the month before, the actual month, and the month after) to schedule and complete your check without falling out of currency.

Training During Checks: If you fail any maneuver during a check ride, the examiner can provide additional training right then and continue the check. They may have you repeat the failed maneuvers plus any others needed to verify your proficiency. However, if you cannot demonstrate satisfactory performance by the end of the check, you cannot fly as a crewmember under Part 135 until you successfully complete the check. This allows for on-the-spot remedial training rather than automatically failing the entire check.
