US-FAA14 CFR 135.323

Training program: General

Read the official rule

This regulation establishes the framework for Part 135 training programs. Certificate holders must create and implement an FAA-approved training program ensuring all crewmembers, dispatchers, instructors, and check pilots are properly trained. They must provide adequate facilities, qualified instructors, current training materials, and enough personnel to conduct all required training.

The regulation includes a practical "grace month" provision: if you complete recurrent training in the month before or after it's due, you're considered current for the required month. This helps with scheduling flexibility.

Instructors must certify each person's proficiency after training or checks, with records maintained in the crewmember's file. Electronic signatures are acceptable if the instructor is identified in the system.

Training already completed satisfactorily for one aircraft or position doesn't need repeating for another (except recurrent training). Simulators and training devices may be used with FAA approval, making training more accessible and cost-effective.
