Training program: Curriculum
Read the official ruleThis regulation requires Part 135 operators to create and maintain a written training curriculum for each aircraft type they operate. The curriculum must cover all required ground and flight training for each crewmember position.
The written curriculum must contain three key elements:
- A list of ground training topics, including emergency procedures
- An inventory of training equipment (simulators, mockups, trainers, and other aids) the operator will use
- Detailed descriptions or pictures showing exactly which normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures will be practiced during each training phase, specifying what happens in actual flight versus ground training
This documentation ensures standardized training across the operation and allows the FAA to verify that the operator's training program meets regulatory requirements. It also helps instructors deliver consistent training and enables crewmembers to know what procedures they'll be expected to demonstrate during training and checkrides.
