Inspections
Read the official ruleIf you hold a Part 141 pilot school certificate, you must allow FAA inspectors to examine your operation whenever they need to verify compliance. This means giving the FAA access to:
- Your instructors, examiners, and other personnel
- Your aircraft, simulators, training devices, and facilities
- Your training records, student files, and other documentation
The FAA conducts these inspections to confirm you still meet the requirements to hold your certificate, that you're following federal aviation law, and that you're complying with all applicable FARs. Unlike Part 61 operations, Part 141 schools operate under specific FAA approval, so this inspection authority is how the agency ensures approved schools maintain their standards. You cannot refuse an inspection—doing so could result in certificate action. These inspections may be scheduled or unannounced, and can range from routine surveillance to investigating specific concerns.
