Enrollment
Read the official ruleWhen you enroll in an FAA-approved Part 141 pilot school, the school must give you three things on day one:
Certificate of enrollment – A document showing which course you're in and when you started.
Training syllabus – Your complete course outline showing what you'll learn and when.
Safety procedures manual (unless training online) – The school's specific rules covering weather minimums for flying, aircraft operations, fire safety, what to do after unplanned landings, how aircraft get approved to fly again after maintenance, fuel planning requirements, collision avoidance, altitude restrictions, emergency procedures, and where your practice areas are located.
These documents ensure you understand exactly what training you're receiving and how to operate safely at that particular school. The school must also keep monthly enrollment records for each course. This regulation protects students by requiring transparency about training requirements and standardized safety information from the start.
