May I give myself an endorsement?

Read the official rule

As a sport pilot flight instructor, you cannot endorse your own logbook for any training requirements. This means you must find another qualified instructor to sign off on items like additional aircraft category or class privileges, flight reviews, proficiency checks, or endorsements needed before taking knowledge or practical tests.

This regulation exists to maintain instructional objectivity and standards—an instructor cannot objectively evaluate their own performance or knowledge. Even though you're qualified to provide these endorsements to other pilots, you need an independent instructor to verify your own qualifications.

In practice, this means planning ahead when you need an endorsement. For example, if you want to add another aircraft category to your sport pilot certificate or need your flight review, you'll need to schedule time with another CFI who holds the appropriate ratings, just like any other pilot would.
