Access to the National Driver Register
Read the official ruleWhen you apply for an FAA medical certificate, you must sign a consent form allowing the FAA to check your driving record through the National Driver Register. This gives the FAA permission to contact state motor vehicle departments and obtain information about your driving history.
The National Driver Register is a database that tracks certain driving violations and license actions across states, such as DUI convictions, license suspensions, or revocations. The FAA uses this information to evaluate whether any driving-related issues might affect your fitness to hold a medical certificate.
If the FAA receives information about you from the National Driver Register, you have the right to request access to that information. You can review what was reported and provide written comments if you believe the information is inaccurate or needs context. This ensures you have an opportunity to address any concerns before the FAA makes a decision on your medical certificate application.
