The Pilots Desk
US-FAA14 CFR 91.1033

Operating information required

Read the official rule

This regulation requires program managers operating under fractional ownership rules to provide specific materials accessible to pilots in the cockpit, and pilots must use them.

Required materials:

  • A cockpit checklist covering before start, before takeoff, cruise, before landing, after landing, and engine shutdown
  • An emergency checklist (for multiengine or retractable-gear aircraft) covering fuel/hydraulic/electrical/mechanical system emergencies, instrument/control emergencies, engine-out procedures, and other safety-critical emergencies
  • At least one set of appropriate aeronautical charts
  • For IFR flights, at least one set of en route, terminal area, and approach procedure charts

These materials must be current and in appropriate form. The regulation ensures pilots have standardized procedures and navigation resources readily available during all phases of flight. This is particularly important in fractional ownership operations where different pilots may fly the same aircraft, requiring consistent operational procedures and emergency references.
