Crewmember: Tests and checks, grace provisions, training to accepted standards

Read the official rule

This regulation provides two important provisions for crewmember testing under Subpart K (fractional ownership operations):

Grace Period: If you complete a required test or flight check in the month before or the month after it's due, you're considered current as if you completed it in the required month. This gives you a three-month window to schedule your check without losing currency.

Training During Checks: If you fail maneuvers during a check ride, the examiner can provide additional training on the spot and have you repeat failed maneuvers plus any others needed to assess your proficiency. However, if you can't demonstrate satisfactory performance, you cannot fly as a crewmember under this subpart until you successfully complete the check. Additionally, if you're also employed by a Part 121, 125, or 135 operator, you must notify that employer of your unsatisfactory performance.
