Training program: Curriculum
Read the official ruleThis regulation requires program managers operating under this subpart to create and maintain a written training curriculum for each aircraft type they operate. The curriculum must cover all required ground and flight training for each crewmember position.
The curriculum must document three key elements:
- Ground training topics: A complete list of subjects taught, including emergency procedures
- Training equipment: All devices and aids used (simulators, mockups, trainers, etc.)
- Flight maneuvers: Detailed descriptions or pictures showing exactly which normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures will be practiced during each training phase, clearly marking which ones happen in actual flight versus simulation
This ensures standardized, comprehensive training across the operation. It also provides documentation for FAA oversight and helps ensure nothing critical gets overlooked in crewmember preparation. The curriculum serves as both a planning tool and a record of what training the program provides.
