CAMP: Mechanical reliability reports

Read the official rule

Program managers operating aircraft under a Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP) must report specific mechanical failures, malfunctions, or defects to the FAA. This includes serious issues like in-flight fires, engine shutdowns, unwanted gear extension/retraction, brake failures while moving, structural damage requiring major repair, and any situation requiring emergency action during flight.

Reports cover each 24-hour period (starting at 0900 local time) and must be submitted within 72 hours to the Flight Standards office that issued the program manager's specifications. "During flight" means from takeoff until touchdown.

Program managers must also report any other failure they believe endangered or may endanger safe operation, even if not specifically listed. Reports must include aircraft identification, date, nature of the problem, parts involved, apparent cause, and other relevant details. You cannot withhold a report just because some information is missing, and must submit supplements when additional information becomes available.
