CAMP: Maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alteration programs
Read the official ruleIf you're a program manager operating aircraft under a Continuous Airborne Maintenance Program (CAMP), you must establish and maintain comprehensive maintenance programs. This means creating both an inspection program and a broader program covering all other maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alterations.
Your programs must ensure three key things:
- All maintenance work—whether done by your own staff or outside contractors—follows the procedures in your program manager's manual
- You provide qualified personnel, proper facilities, and adequate equipment to do the work correctly
- Every aircraft is confirmed airworthy and properly maintained before returning to service
This regulation essentially makes you responsible for the entire maintenance operation's quality and compliance. You can't simply contract out the work and walk away—you must ensure your manual is followed, standards are met, and aircraft are genuinely airworthy before flight.
