CAMP: Required inspection personnel

Read the official rule

This regulation sets standards for inspection personnel under a Continuous Airworthiness Maintenance Program (CAMP).

Anyone performing required inspections must be properly certificated, trained, qualified, and authorized. They must work under the supervision and control of the chief inspector. Importantly, the same person cannot both perform maintenance work and then inspect that same work—this separation ensures independent verification of quality.

Program managers must maintain a current list of authorized inspectors, identifying each person by name, job title, and which inspections they're approved to perform. Each inspector must receive written documentation explaining their specific responsibilities, authorities, and limitations. This list must be available for FAA review upon request.

These requirements create accountability and prevent conflicts of interest in the inspection process, helping ensure aircraft maintained under CAMP meet safety standards through proper oversight and documentation.
