Operating requirements

Read the official rule

This regulation sets specific operating requirements for the Mitsubishi MU-2B airplane.

When flying single-pilot, you must have a working autopilot except in two situations: flying under day VFR, or flying under day IFR in VMC conditions if authorized by an FAA-approved MEL for that aircraft.

Every flight requires you to have the appropriate MU-2B Flight Manual on board and accessible at the pilot station. You must also have an FAA-accepted MU-2B checklist appropriate for your model accessible and actually use it during operations.

You cannot operate contrary to any standards in this subpart. If conflicts exist between this subpart's training/operating requirements and the Flight Manual procedures or checklist, you must follow this subpart's requirements.

These rules recognize the MU-2B's unique handling characteristics and ensure pilots have proper documentation and, when flying alone, automation support for safe operations.
