US-FAA14 CFR 91.1719

Credit for prior training

Read the official rule

This regulation provides a grandfather clause for training completed before November 7, 2016. If you completed certain types of training (initial/transition, requalification, recurrent, or Level B differences training) under the old SFAR No. 108 rules before that date, it counts as meeting the requirements of this newer subpart.

Two conditions must have been met for this credit to apply: you must have been eligible for that category of training at the time, and your instructor must have met the experience requirements that are now specified in this subpart.

In practical terms, this means pilots don't need to repeat training they already completed under the previous regulatory framework, as long as both student and instructor qualifications were properly met. This avoids unnecessary duplication when regulations change and helps ensure a smooth transition between the old and new training requirements.
