Incorporation by reference
Read the official ruleThis regulation makes specific Mitsubishi MU-2B cockpit checklists official FAA requirements by incorporating them into the federal regulations. When a document is "incorporated by reference," it becomes legally binding as if it were printed directly in the regulation itself.
For MU-2B pilots, this means you must use the specific FAA-approved checklist version for your aircraft model and type certificate—not just any checklist. The regulation lists 16 different approved checklists covering various MU-2B models (from the basic MU-2B through the MU-2B-60), each identified by a specific Mitsubishi document number.
These checklists are part of the special training and operating requirements for MU-2B aircraft found in Subpart N of Part 91. You can obtain copies from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America in Texas, or inspect them at the Department of Transportation or National Archives. Using the correct checklist for your specific model is mandatory, not optional.
