About The Pilots Desk

Last updated July 2026

The Pilots Desk is an independent, free aviation reference for pilots, student pilots, flight-sim users and anyone curious about aviation. It brings together airports, runways, frequencies, navaids, charts, aircraft, airlines, airspace, live weather, plain-English regulations and free flight-planning tools — with worldwide coverage and no login required.

What we're for

Most great aviation resources are either paywalled (ForeFlight), US-only (AirNav), or scattered across a dozen government sites. Our goal is a single, fast, honest reference that works globally and explains things in plain English — especially the parts (regulations, METARs, NOTAMs) that are written for people who already know the jargon.

How it's built

The site is assembled from public-domain and openly-licensed datasets, refreshed on a schedule, and rendered as static reference pages. See Data & sources for the full list and our editorial process. Live flight data is provided on demand by AeroDataBox and clearly attributed.

Accuracy and how to help

Aviation data changes constantly and no automated pipeline is perfect. Every page is reference and study material — never a substitute for official, current sources or a certificated flight instructor. If you spot an error, please tell us at [email protected]; corrections are prioritised. See our editorial & sourcing policy for how content is written and reviewed.

Not for navigation

The Pilots Desk is a reference and training resource. It is not to be used for navigation or in-flight decision-making. Always consult official sources, current charts, NOTAMs and applicable regulations, and fly with appropriate instruction. See our Terms of use.
