Il est géré par le Syndicat mixte des aéroports de La Rochelle île de Ré, Rochefort Charente-Maritime. Cet aéroport est ouvert à la circulation aérienne publique et son activité est surtout composée d'avions militaires, d'avions de loisirs et d'avions d'affaires.
