Applicability

This regulation simply introduces the section of Part 107 that covers how to get your remote pilot certificate for flying small drones commercially. It's essentially a "table of contents" statement that tells you what's coming in the following regulations.

The regulations that follow §107.56 (sections 107.57 through 107.79) lay out everything you need to know about obtaining your remote pilot certificate: eligibility requirements, the knowledge test you must pass, how to apply, when certificates expire, and how to maintain your certification through recurrent training.

Think of this as the opening sentence of a chapter. It doesn't impose any requirements itself—it just tells you that this subpart is where you'll find all the rules about getting certified to fly drones under Part 107. If you're studying to become a remote pilot, the regulations immediately following this one are what you need to focus on.
