Inspection, testing, and demonstration of compliance

This regulation establishes inspection requirements for drone operations under Part 107. When operating a drone, you must carry your remote pilot certificate and present it upon request to the FAA, NTSB, law enforcement, or TSA. You must also make available any required documents or records when the FAA asks.

The FAA can request to inspect or test your drone, yourself as the remote pilot, anyone manipulating the controls, and any visual observer to verify compliance with Part 107 rules. These requirements apply to the remote pilot in command, owner, operator, visual observer, or anyone controlling the aircraft.

If you hold an FAA-accepted declaration of compliance (related to certain manufacturing or operational approvals under Subpart D), you must provide that declaration and allow facility inspections or witness testing when requested.

In practice, this means always fly with your certificate accessible and be prepared to demonstrate that your operation complies with regulations if asked by authorities.
