Change of name or address
Read the official ruleThis regulation explains how remote pilots must update their certificate when their name or address changes.
Name changes require submitting an application along with your current remote pilot certificate and documentation proving the change (such as a marriage license or court order). The FAA will inspect these documents and return them to you.
Address changes must be reported to the FAA within 30 days. After that 30-day window, you cannot legally exercise your remote pilot privileges until you've notified the FAA of your new address. You can update your address by mailing the FAA Airman Certification Branch in Oklahoma City or using the online portal at faa.gov. If your mailing address is a P.O. box, you must also provide your physical residential address.
This ensures the FAA can contact you about certificate matters, regulatory changes, or safety notifications. Failing to update your address within 30 days effectively grounds you until you comply.
