Manual accessibility: Supplemental operations
Read the official ruleIf you operate under Part 121 supplemental rules, you must make sure your company manual is available to your flight crews, ground staff, and maintenance personnel whenever they're working. People need access to the specific sections relevant to their jobs—not necessarily the entire manual, but the parts they need to do their work properly.
The manual must be clear, easy to read, and presented in English. "Retrievable" means personnel must be able to look up information when they need it, whether that's through physical copies, electronic devices, or other accessible formats.
This regulation ensures that everyone performing safety-critical tasks can reference the correct procedures and information at any time during their duties. It prevents situations where crew members or maintenance staff might have to perform tasks from memory alone or without access to current company procedures and limitations.
