US-FAA14 CFR 91.1709

Training program approval

Read the official rule

This regulation establishes the approval process for MU-2B training programs. Training providers must submit their proposed programs to the FAA for approval before they can be used to meet the requirements of this subpart—you cannot use an unapproved program to satisfy MU-2B training requirements.

For Part 91 operators, approved training programs remain valid for 24 months unless the FAA updates or cancels them earlier. The FAA retains authority to require changes to any approved program at any time if needed.

In practical terms, this means if you're seeking MU-2B training, you must verify that your training provider has current FAA approval for their program. Training providers must be able to show their approval documentation to FAA representatives on request, so you can ask to see proof that the program you're considering is currently approved and will satisfy regulatory requirements.
